Eye Conditions in Children (Paediatrics)
Amblyopia
Lazy Eye
Amblyopia is when the vision in one eye is better than the other so-called ‘lazy eye’. This is the main cause of visual impairment in children starting at early childhood and is important to diagnose early.
Strabismus
Misaligned eyes
Strabismus is a visual condition where both eyes are misaligned and point in different directions which is common in children. Treatment is required to improve vision and improve physical appearance.
Tear Duct Obstruction
When a baby is born, sometimes their tear ducts are not yet completely open meaning tears run down the babies’ cheek. Babies with this condition are more prone to contracting conjunctivitis.
